El Zonte has a particular energy in the morning: unhurried, a little golden, the kind of pace that makes you want to put your phone down. Canegue fits that perfectly. The space feels thought through without feeling designed. It’s comfortable in the way that places get comfortable when the people running them actually use them.
It draws a mix of people — locals, long-term residents, travelers passing through, remote workers getting a head start on the day. The crowd tends to be relaxed, and the vibe follows. You’re not going to feel rushed or out of place whether you’re there for forty minutes or two hours.
When to Go
Mornings are the move. Get there early enough and you’ll have your pick of spots. By mid-morning on weekends it fills up, and for good reason. If you’re staying nearby, it’s an easy walk — the kind of morning routine that makes you understand why people end up staying in El Zonte longer than they originally planned.
